 Ooloi's interface now speaks twenty languages (with two national variations), with varying degrees of confidence. I've added a Translator's Guide for the native-speaking musicians who can tell it when it's talking nonsense.

Thank you, that's a welcome offer and I'll take you up on it. Not quite yet, though. There are many more strings to come, and their nomenclature and key structure are still shifting. You'd be translating on a moving substrate, and I'd rather not have you redo large amounts of linguistically sensitive work because a key got renamed under you. Once things have settled, sv_SE is the first file that goes out.

Thank you, Magnus. The credit largely goes to gettext, which has been carrying this kind of load since the early nineties and is about as solid as infrastructure gets. That solidity is what made it worth building on rather than around: because I could take the catalogue layer entirely for granted, I could put the effort into the facilities on top of it instead, which is where the actual work went. And it went quickly because the groundwork underneath was already there. Two years of infrastructure nobody could see is starting to surface in visible ways, which brings a certain proud-parent satisfaction. ;) Leave a Reply. |
